Relevant Experience 

Alicia joined CWB’s Dubai office as an Associate in 2020 and brings with her a wealth of experience from the Far East. Prior to joining CWB, Alicia worked as legal counsel for Alibaba, one of the world’s largest online retailers, where in addition to IP work, she specialised in legal issues within cloud computing and e-commerce technology BUs, including drafting and negotiating business/technology collaboration agreements and conducting compliance reviews for new products. Alicia has worked with compliance teams on data protection, export control and other regulatory issues and projects. She is adept at identifying issues in daily matters and work with clients at different levels within the BUs to build processes and policies to address risks with minimum impact on business.

Alicia also gained valuable experience in international law firms such as DLA Piper and Jones Day where she worked with clients throughout Asia, Europe, the US and Australia on IP issues in transactional deals, including drafting and negotiating technology and trade mark license/assignment agreements, conducting IP due diligence and handling commercial IP related disputes. She holds Masters Degrees from both Georgetown University Law Center and the University of International Business and Economics. She is bi-lingual, speaking both English and Mandarin fluently.
