Reduced patent and utility model fees for individual applicants, implemented by Ministerial Decree No. 67 of 2023, entered into force in Bahrain on September 22, 2023.
Updated fees include (approximate amounts, at the rate of exchange at writing):
- filing and formality examination fees – reduced from US$715 to US$105;
- substantive examination fees – reduced from US$740 to US$665;
- grant and publication fees – reduced from US$425 to US$135.
The reduced fees have already encouraged more individual applicants to file and protect patents and utility models in Bahrain.
