The Iraqi trade mark office requires a power of attorney on behalf of the applicant legalized to the embassy of Iraq to support a trade mark application at the time of filing. Although the law does not provide for the late filing of a power of attorney, in practice it is possible to file a trade mark application with a copy of the legalised or notarised power of attorney, provided the original legalised power of attorney is filed within six months from the filing date.
