On 6 December 2014, Kuwait’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Commerce and Industry, Dr. Abdulmohsen Al-Madaj, announced the formation of an Intellectual Property Committee “to better protect intellectual property” in Kuwait. Sheikh Salman Al-Dawood Al-Sabah, head of the Kuwaiti Society for the Protection of Intellectual Property, along with other Kuwaiti officials, have proposed that this Intellectual Property Committee be an independent authority in order to attract foreign investors, secure the protection of intellectual property in the country, and to benefit Kuwait commercially and financially.
